The Pecos River is a river located in the southwestern United States. It is the longest river in Texas and the 19th longest river in the United States. The river begins in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico and flows southeastward for 926 miles before emptying into the Rio Grande near Del Rio, Texas. The Pecos River is an important source of water for the region and is used for irrigation, recreation, and other purposes.
