Teresa Stratas was a Canadian-American operatic soprano who had an illustrious career spanning over four decades. She is best known for her performances in the works of Richard Strauss, Giacomo Puccini and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Stratas was the first singer to record all three of Strauss's operas, and she won a Grammy Award for her performance in Puccini's La Bohème. Stratas also received numerous awards and honors throughout her career, including the Order of Canada and the National Medal of Arts.
