Lena Horne was an American singer, actress, and civil rights activist. She was one of the first African-American women to gain recognition in Hollywood and is remembered for her powerful singing voice and her activism. Her career spanned over 70 years and she was known for her signature song 'Stormy Weather'. She was also a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement and was awarded the Kennedy Center Honors in 1984.
