Freda Payne is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is best known for her 1970 hit single 'Band of Gold'. Payne began her career as a jazz singer in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and later became a successful R&B and pop vocalist. She has released several albums throughout her career, including her most recent album, Come Back to Me Love, in 2017. Payne has also appeared in several films and television shows, including The Jeffersons and Sanford and Son.
