Lotte Lenya was a singer and actress who was born in Austria in 1898. She is best known for her roles in the works of composer Kurt Weill, such as The Threepenny Opera and Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny. She won a Tony Award for her performance in the Broadway production of Cabaret in 1966. Lenya also had a successful career as a recording artist, releasing several albums of Weill's music.
