Isaac Hayes was an American singer, songwriter, actor, and producer. He is best known for his work in the 1970s, when he released a series of successful albums and singles, including the number-one hit 'Theme from Shaft'. Hayes won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the title track, which has since become an iconic part of popular culture. He also wrote and performed the score for the 1971 film Shaft, which earned him a Grammy Award. Hayes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
