Senator Harry Reid is a retired American politician who served as a United States Senator from Nevada from 1987 to 2017. He was the Senate Majority Leader from 2007 to 2015, and was the highest-ranking Democrat in the Senate from 2005 to 2017. Reid was also the first person of African-American descent to serve as Senate Majority Leader. During his tenure in the Senate, Reid was known for his support of progressive policies, including healthcare reform, immigration reform, and the DREAM Act.
