The term SEA COW refers to two large aquatic mammals, the manatee and the DUGONG. Manatees are large, slow-moving herbivores found in warm coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico. Dugongs are similar to manatees, but are found in the shallow, coastal waters of the Indian and western Pacific Oceans. Both species are considered vulnerable due to human activities such as hunting and habitat destruction.
