Hedy Lamarr was a famous Austrian-American actress and inventor who is best known for her role as a screen star in the 1940s. She was also an inventor, having co-invented a frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology which was used to help develop wireless communication during World War II. Lamarr was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014 for her contributions to the field of technology.
