John Knox was a Scottish Reformer who was a leader of the Protestant Reformation in Scotland. He is considered to be the founder of the Presbyterian denomination in Scotland. Knox was a student of John Calvin and was influenced by his teachings. He was an advocate for religious freedom and wrote several books on the subject. He also wrote a book called The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstrous Regiment of Women, which was critical of female rulers. Knox died in 1572 and is remembered as one of the most influential figures in the history of Scotland.
