David Livingstone was a Scottish explorer and missionary who is best known for his explorations of Africa. He was the first European to cross the continent from coast to coast. John Ross was a Scottish explorer who led several expeditions to the Arctic in search of the Northwest Passage. He was also the first to chart the northern coast of Canada. John Rae was a Scottish explorer who explored much of the Canadian Arctic and discovered the final link in the Northwest Passage. He was also the first to accurately map the coastline of the Arctic Ocean.
