The term SALCHOW KIN is a combination of two figure skating jumps, the Salchow and the Axel. The Salchow jump is named after its inventor, Swedish figure skater Ulrich Salchow, and is performed by taking off from the back inside edge of one skate and landing on the back outside edge of the other skate. The Axel jump was invented by Norwegian figure skater Axel Paulsen and is performed by taking off from the forward outside edge of one skate and landing on the back outside edge of the other skate. Both jumps are considered difficult and require a great deal of skill and practice to master.
