The term 'Rubik's Baffler' is a reference to the Rubik's CUBE, a 3-D combination puzzle invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik. The Rubik's Baffler is a 4x4x4 version of the CUBE, which has more combinations and is thus more difficult to solve.
