A Roman official was a person who held a position of authority in the Roman Empire. The most common positions were SENATOR, Edile, CONSUL, and Questor. A SENATOR was a member of the highest ranking body of government in Rome, the Senate. An Edile was a magistrate responsible for public works and festivals. A CONSUL was a senior magistrate with executive powers, and a Questor was a financial officer responsible for the treasury.
