Eric Rohmer was a French film director, screenwriter, and film critic. He was a key figure in the New Wave movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Rohmer directed over 30 films during his career, including My Night at Maud's, Claire's Knee, and Summer. He was also a prolific writer, publishing numerous books and essays on film theory. Rohmer was awarded the Legion of Honor in 2003 for his contributions to French cinema.
