Roald Dahl was a British novelist, short story writer, poet, screenwriter, and fighter pilot. He is best known for his works for children, such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, and James and the Giant Peach. He also wrote adult stories, such as Tales of the Unexpected. His books have been translated into more than fifty languages and have sold over 250 million copies worldwide. He was born in Wales in 1916 and died in 1990.
