A conventicle is a religious meeting, usually held outside of a church or other formal place of worship. It is typically an informal gathering of people who share a common faith and come together to discuss religious topics and pray. Conventicles are often associated with Protestantism, particularly in the 16th and 17th centuries, when they were used as a way to practice religion without persecution from the Catholic Church.
