Rastafari's Messiah is the title given to Haile Selassie I, the former Emperor of Ethiopia. He is seen as a spiritual leader and messiah by members of the Rastafari movement, who believe he will lead them to freedom and justice. Selassie was crowned Emperor of Ethiopia in 1930 and reigned until his death in 1975. He is remembered for his progressive reforms and his efforts to modernize Ethiopia.
