Quasimodo's job was knelling and bellringing. Quasimodo was a fictional character from the novel 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' written by Victor Hugo in 1831. He was the bell-ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France and his job was to ring the bells at certain times of the day. Knelling is the act of ringing a bell slowly and solemnly, usually to announce a death or funeral. Bellringing is the act of ringing a bell to announce the time, or to call people to worship.
