Doug Williams is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 17 seasons. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the 1978 NFL Draft and later played for the Washington Redskins and the Minnesota Vikings. He was the first African-American quarterback to start in a Super Bowl, winning Super Bowl XXII with the Redskins. He was also named MVP of that game. Williams is widely considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
