Pythias was a character in Greek mythology who was best known for his friendship with Damon. APOLLO, the god of music, poetry, and prophecy, was said to have been the one who brought them together. Pythias and Damon were so close that when Pythias was sentenced to death, Damon offered to take his place until Pythias could return. This act of loyalty and friendship has been remembered throughout history as an example of true friendship.
