Pyrrhus was a legendary king of Epirus, an ancient Greek kingdom in the western Balkans. He is best known for his victory over the Romans at the Battle of Heraclea in 280 BC, but his costly victory ultimately led to his defeat at the Battle of Asculum in 279 BC. He was the son of Achilles and Deidamia, and the father of Neoptolemus. Neoptolemus was a Greek hero who fought in the Trojan War and was the son of Achilles and Deidamia.
