A pyramid scheme, for one, is a type of SCAM in which participants attempt to make money solely by recruiting more members into the scheme. It is an illegal form of investment fraud in which money from new investors is used to pay earlier investors, creating the illusion of profitability. The scheme eventually collapses when there are no more new investors, leaving the last investors with nothing.
