Isabel Wilkerson is an American journalist and author who won the Pulitzer Prize for her book, The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration. She is the first African-American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in journalism. Wilkerson was born in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Howard University with a degree in journalism. She has worked as a reporter for The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the Chicago Tribune. Wilkerson has also written several books, including The Warmth of Other Suns, which chronicles the Great Migration of African Americans from the South to the North during the 20th century.
