The Pulitzer Prize is an annual award given to recognize achievements in journalism, literature, and music composition. The Pulitzer Prize for POETRY is awarded to a poet for a distinguished volume of original verse published during the preceding calendar year. The Pulitzer Prize for DRAMA is awarded to a playwright for a distinguished play or musical composition that has had its first performance or production within the United States during the preceding calendar year.
