A primitive radio receiver is a device that uses a coherer to detect radio waves. A coherer is a device consisting of two electrodes separated by a tube filled with metal filings that become conductive when exposed to radio waves, allowing the signal to be detected. This type of receiver was used in the early days of radio communication and was the first type of radio receiver to be used commercially.
