The term PREHISTORIC MOUND is a four-letter word, TERP. A terp is an artificial hill or mound created by humans in prehistoric times. It was usually constructed as a burial site or to mark a boundary. Terps were common in the Netherlands and northern Germany, but have been found in other parts of Europe as well.
