Pouched mammals are a type of mammal that have a pouch on their abdomen to carry and protect their young. The three examples of pouched mammals are the KOALA, MARSUPIAL, and OPOSSUM. The KOALA is a small arboreal herbivorous MARSUPIAL native to Australia, with a body length of up to 85 cm and a weight of up to 14 kg. The MARSUPIAL is a mammal of which the female typically has a pouch in which it carries its young. The OPOSSUM is a MARSUPIAL of the order Didelphimorphia endemic to the Americas. It is the only MARSUPIAL found in North America.
