Pony Pace is a term used to describe the GAIT of a horse. It is composed of two parts, the TROT and the GAIT. The TROT is a two-beat diagonal GAIT in which the horse moves its legs in diagonal pairs, with the left hind leg and right front leg moving together, followed by the right hind leg and left front leg. The GAIT is a four-beat lateral GAIT in which the horse moves its legs in lateral pairs, with the left hind leg and left front leg moving together, followed by the right hind leg and right front leg. Both the TROT and the GAIT are used in riding and driving horses.
