Estes Kefauver was an American politician who served as a U.S. Senator from Tennessee from 1949 to 1963. He was a member of the Democratic Party and is best remembered for his investigation into organized crime in the 1950s. He ran for the Democratic nomination for President in 1956, but lost to Adlai Stevenson. He was also the running mate of presidential candidate Adlai Stevenson in the 1956 election.
