Roman Polanski is a Polish-French film director, producer, writer, and actor. He is best known for directing films such as Rosemary's Baby (1968), Chinatown (1974), and The Pianist (2002). Polanski has been nominated for five Academy Awards, winning the Best Director award for The Pianist in 2003. He is also a three-time winner of the Cesar Award for Best Director. Polanski has been a fugitive from the United States since 1978, when he fled the country while awaiting sentencing for statutory rape.
