The poetic period EENS is an acronym for the English literary period known as the Early Modern English period. This period lasted from the late 15th century to the mid-17th century and was characterized by the use of Early Modern English, a language that was a transition between Middle English and Modern English. During this period, many of the great works of English literature were written, including those of William Shakespeare, Edmund Spenser, and John Milton.
