Edith Sitwell was an English poet, novelist, and critic who was born in 1887 and died in 1964. She was a member of the famous Sitwell family, which included her brother Osbert and her brother Sacheverell. She is best known for her modernist poetry, which often featured surreal imagery and complex rhythms. Her works include Façade, The Sleeping Beauty, and Street Songs. She was also a prolific writer of prose, including biographies and autobiographies. She was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1954 for her services to literature.
