Anne Sexton was an American poet and playwright who is best known for her confessional poetry. She was born in Newton, Massachusetts in 1928 and died in 1974. Sexton was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1967. She was also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
