Anita Loos was an American playwright, screenwriter, and author. She is best known for her novel Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and the Broadway adaptation of the same name. Loos wrote over twenty plays, many of which were adapted into films. She was also a prolific writer of short stories and essays. Loos was one of the first female writers to be taken seriously in Hollywood and was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 1970.
