Federico Garcia Lorca was a Spanish poet, playwright, and theatre director. He is considered one of the greatest Spanish poets of the 20th century and one of the most important figures in Spanish literature. He wrote plays such as 'The House of Bernarda Alba' and 'Blood Wedding'. He was also a member of the Generation of '27, a group of Spanish poets and writers who were active during the 1920s and 1930s. His works often explored themes of love, death, and violence. He was assassinated by Nationalist forces during the Spanish Civil War in 1936.
