Alan Ayckbourn is a British playwright, director, actor, and novelist. He is one of the most prolific and widely performed playwrights in the English language, having written more than seventy plays since 1959. He is best known for his comedies, which often explore the tensions between men and women in contemporary society. Ayckbourn has won numerous awards for his work, including two Olivier Awards and three Tony Awards.
