Plant pests are organisms that feed on plants and can cause significant damage to crops. Common plant pests include aphids, which are small insects that suck the sap from plants; greenflies, which are related to aphids and also feed on plant sap; APHIS, which are small insects that feed on the leaves of plants; mites, which are tiny arachnids that feed on plant tissue; borers, which are larvae of certain insects that bore into the stems and trunks of plants; and gypsymoths, which are caterpillars that feed on the leaves of trees and shrubs.
