Zasu Pitts was an American actress who appeared in over 200 films and television shows throughout her career. She is best known for her comedic roles in the 1930s and 1940s, and is often referred to as 'the first lady of Hollywood's sad-faced clowns'. Pitts was born in California in 1894 and began her career in silent films. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Gay Sisters in 1942. Pitts passed away in 1963 at the age of 69.
