The pianist Rudolf Serkin was a renowned classical musician who was born in Czechoslovakia in 1903. He studied at the Vienna Conservatory and went on to become one of the most influential pianists of the 20th century. He was a founding member of the Marlboro Music School and Festival, and he performed with some of the world's leading orchestras. He was also a professor at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. He passed away in 1991.
