Myra Hess was a British pianist who was known for her interpretations of classical music. She was born in London in 1888 and began studying the piano at the age of four. She made her debut at the age of eleven and went on to become one of the most renowned pianists of her time. Hess was also a composer, and she wrote several works for the piano. She was awarded the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1945 for her services to music. Hess passed away in 1965.
