Myra Hess was a renowned pianist who was born in London in 1888. She was known for her interpretations of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, and Franz Schubert. She was also a prolific composer, having written over 200 works for piano. Hess was a professor at the Royal Academy of Music and was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1941.
