Philip Roth was an American novelist, short story writer, and essayist. He is best known for his novel 'American Pastoral' (1997), which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1998. Roth wrote more than 30 novels, including 'Portnoy's Complaint' (1969) and 'The Human Stain' (2000). He was awarded numerous awards, including two National Book Awards and three PEN/Faulkner Awards. Roth died in 2018 at the age of 85.
