The Peruvian city of kings is LIMA, which is the capital and largest city in Peru. It is located in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín rivers, in the central coastal part of the country. LIMA was founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro on January 18, 1535, and it became the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru. It is a major economic and cultural center in Latin America, and is home to one of the oldest universities in the Americas, the National University of San Marcos.
