The Iberian Peninsula, also known as the Peninsula of Portugal, is a large peninsula located in southwestern Europe. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south, the Mediterranean Sea to the east, and the Bay of Biscay to the north. The peninsula is home to the countries of Spain and Portugal, as well as the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. It is the second largest peninsula in Europe after the Scandinavian Peninsula. The Iberian Peninsula has a rich history, with many cultures and civilizations having inhabited the area over the centuries. It is also home to some of the world's most iconic cities, such as Madrid, Lisbon, and Barcelona.
