The Iberian Peninsula, also known as the Peninsula of Europe, is a large peninsula located in southwestern Europe. It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the south and east, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the Bay of Biscay to the north. The peninsula is home to the countries of Spain and Portugal, as well as the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. It is the second largest peninsula in Europe after the Scandinavian Peninsula. The Iberian Peninsula has a rich history, with many cultures and civilizations having left their mark on the region.
