The DAR, or Daughters of the American Revolution, is a patriotic group founded in 1890. It is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support education. The DAR is open to any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. The organization has over 185, 000 members in 3, 000 chapters across the United States and internationally.
