The term PART OF WASP refers to two distinct groups of people: Saxons and Anglo-Saxons. Saxons are a Germanic people who lived in what is now Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark. They were among the first settlers of Britain and are considered to be the ancestors of the English people. Anglo-Saxons are a group of people who migrated to Britain from northern Germany and southern Scandinavia in the 5th century. They were the dominant cultural group in England until the Norman Conquest in 1066. Both Saxons and Anglo-Saxons are considered to be part of the White Anglo-SAXON Protestant (WASP) demographic in the United States.
