The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is a part of the United States Department of Homeland Security. FEMA is responsible for responding to, planning for, recovering from, and mitigating against disasters. It provides emergency assistance, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness resources to individuals, families, businesses, and communities. FEMA also works with state and local governments to ensure that they are prepared for disasters.
