PAPER REED is a term used to describe an ancient writing material made from the PAPYRUS plant. PAPYRUS was used by the ancient Egyptians and other cultures in the Mediterranean region for thousands of years. It was made by cutting the stem of the PAPYRUS plant into thin strips, which were then laid out in horizontal and vertical layers and pressed together. The resulting material was then dried and used to create scrolls and other documents.
